In machines requiring controlled, fast and repeatable power transmission.
How : Electromagnetic clutches are mechanical elements that are used to transmit and cut power on the driven side with an electromagnetic force. They can disconnect and connect power without stopping the power. When electrical current flows through a coil inside the clutch, it creates a magnetic field. The magnetic field pulls a friction plate or armature into contact with a rotating driver part [like a pulley or flywheel ]. Once engaged, torque is transferred from the driving shaft to the driven shaft via friction. When the current is switched off, a spring or similar mechanism pulls the parts apart, stopping torque transfer.
Key components are a Stator Coil , Rotor, Armature plate, Friction surface , Spring etc
