Brake Motor

Brake Motors are used for various applications where instantaneous stopping of the driven load is required. The operation of the brake is ‘fail safe type’ or Normally ON. When the electric power to the motor is cut off or the power fails the brake is applied. Brake Motor is a combination of an AC induction motor and an Electromagnetic DC brake. The electromagnetic brake is mounted on the non driving end of the motor.

DC brakes are provided with a rectifier which provides the required DC voltage to the brake coil which in turn operates the brake. The supply to the rectifier is fed from any two terminals in the terminal box.

Crane duty Motors are available in aluminium or cast Iron frames. All Motors are totally enclosed fan cooled type. They are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The brake motors are simple, reliable and easy for maintenance.

Brake Motors are used in textile machinery, machine tools, cranes and hoists, material handling equipments, cable railing drums, elevators, rolling mills, printing machine, conveyors etc. Brake Motors are provided ingress protection. The motor must never be switched ON unless the brake is energized and the brake should never be de-energized when the motor is ON.

Emco Dynatorq 14.458 series brakes in various sizes or torque values are recommended to be fitted to the Brake Motor. The special German liner ensures that the braking torque value remains stable throughout its long life. The proven Lenze design is adopted in the manufacturing of this brake.
